Introduce yourself

We want as many people as possible to contribute to Wikipedia and anyone can edit Wikipedia even without having an account. However, if you register as a user you get several benefits, such as extra tools and a page to introduce yourself. It is also easier to discuss with other users when you have an account.

Exercise

Click on the "Create Account" on the top right corner of the page.
Interpret and type the distorted text in the box as this is a robot filter testing whether you are a human or not.
Come up with a good username. Many of the most common names are already taken, so choose something original.
Choose a password you do not use anywhere else.
Please enter your email address so that Wikipedia can send you a new password if you forget the old one. The address will never be shared with anyone.
Press the "Create an Account".
Your username and some other links will then appear at the top right corner of the page. Click on your username.
What you write in the edit box will be shown on your user page. Here many present themselves briefly and for example write about their interests. You can also leave this blank for now and return to the user page later when you have a better idea of what you want to tell about yourself.
Click the "Save" button in the edit box.

Your user presentation can be viewed by others. You can also visit anyone else’s user pages. If you know the user, you can search for the person by typing "User:" plus the user’s name in the search box.
