Central Hockey League (CHL) var en amerikansk ishockeyliga som var aktiv mellan 1963 och 1984. Ligan startades dock med namnet Central Professional Hockey League (CPHL), men 1968 ville man förenkla liganamnet och tog bort Professional.[1] Samma år tog den nordamerikanska proffsligan National Hockey League (NHL) över ägarskapet och drev den tills ligan lades ner 1984. NHL använde ligan som en utvecklingsliga likt vad American Hockey League (AHL) och ECHL är idag för NHL. Samtliga medlemsorganisationer hade minst ett farmarlag i ligan, där de skickade spelare mellan sig för att ge de spelare som inte lyckats få en plats i NHL-truppen speltid.
